Progression and Final Piece

I started on the project trying to do a person as my object while I was at home for Thanksgiving break. Although it looked okay, I wasn't satisfied and decided to make a fictional character, Yoshi. I started on the nose then continued to the body. I then did everything in the background to allow for the creature to pop. I also added a couple pictures of my notebook that allowed for my design process and creativity to be shown. The thing that I would change in my design would be to make it slightly bigger to take up more of the board, although I was very satisfied with how it turned out.

3 Color Personal

I personally made a 3 color image out of a picture that meant a lot to me. We did the same process that we had done for the other three color image, and I remembered all of the steps.

3 Color

In today's work, we downloaded a picture of Davis and Elkins and turned it into a 3 color photo. We then chad to change the 3 colors to make it our own. Using image trace, this was extremely easy to accomplish.

Ai Robot Pattern

In this, we had to follow the instructions of InDesign and create a pattern out of a design on a notebook. We did this my select and cropping out all of the excess drawing, then placing this on the paper.

2 Photos

In this piece I flipped the background, and then I cut out a surfer from a different photo. I did this in order to make the audience view the work as the surfer riding a wave, but not the original. The sky is now the ocean, while the sea is the sky.

I wanted to make a sort of city while incorporating linear displacement. Although the took a while to fill in all of the spots, it was worth it in the end.

Triangles

This was my triangle that represented emphasis. I made a triangle then went into the idea of the illuminati. This emphasizes the eye in the center of the triangle.

This triangle represented unity. Through the inclusion of different shapes and triangles, the large triangle brought them all together, or unified, them.

Lastly, this was the triangle that showed proportion and scale. The top three triangles show scale, meanwhile the A, T, and B represent my initials. The A and B mean more than my middle name, so they are larger than the T. This shows proportion in the larger three triangle and overall, the one big triangle.

Optical Illusion

This was my one piece that I felt was the one that indicated me to move on to bigger and a better piece

This piece was not finished, and I did this in order to show the ability to change or adjust the lines in the shapes.

The work in this picture is not as much in depth, but is done correctly and thoroughly.

This was my first attempt at this project, and I believe that it shows how much I've learned, or grown, just in this short period of time.

This piece also indicated me to move onto bigger and better things.

For this design, I attempted to make an optical illusion by adding circles in the middle left of the drawing. I then made the lines go back into the “space” instead of straight across. I then through in a few triangles to add more creativeness.

Ch 3 & 4 Photographic Compositions

1. Emphasis by Contrast: I used a piece of my PS4 controller in order to have a circular white piece, then I placed it on my bed, which is black, to make everything but the circle black.

2.  Unexpected or Exaggerated Scale: I had a cup from lunch and decided this was the easiest way to show how large it was compared to the human body in the background. I then made the cup a little lighter in shade to make it appear larger.

3. Large and Small Scale Together: This was the hardest example to show for me. I used goldfish in the front to be the larger scale, then put my octopus in the back left for the smaller scale. I also added more color and light to the goldfish box for the same reason as the last picture.

4. Emphasis by Isolation: I had solo cups and decided to use these, for they were easy to move and create this isolation with. The singular cup at the top is obviously the isolated portion of the picture, and I do believe it is emphasized in the photo.

5. Proportion in Relation to a Human: The sweet tea bottle appears to be larger, until you stand next to it. The bottle barely comes up to my upper ankle and shows, truly, how tiny it is.

6. Absence of Emphasis: It's a block wall. There's nothing special or unique about it. All of the blocks look the exact same and function the exact same as every other block.

Optical Illusion Progress

This piece is unfinished, but I feel that it was my best piece of work. This is because it has the most shapes and has the circles in the center in order to create this optical illusion. All I would have to do is erase the lines in the circle and make them angled upward slightly.

On this piece I wanted to add the swirled lines going vertical instead of having actual shapes going on this side of the page. And as for the left side, I started all three triangles in the bottom and made them spread over the page.

Definition of Principles of Design and Triangles

 balance

alignment

emphasis

proportion

movement

pattern

contrast

unity

I really just went with everything that came to my mind because I knew once I had a central idea, I could expand and add the necessary elements of the assignment. Much of my work on the triangles have emphasis and pattern, although every element in present in one of them.

Design Process

1. The problem I solved while creating my logo including my initials was how could I include my personality in my work with just using two letters.

1a. I communicated, in my work, that I am a student athlete alongside being a very simple person. I feel that I made them feel like not everything has to be super detailed and can be simplified and still be considered nice artwork. Alongside the feeling that I gave them, I think that most people seeing my logos could want to try out there initials for their own logo.

1b. I believe I reached exactly what I was striving for in my logo, which was be simple and myself in my work. This is something I try to show in almost all of my art and designs.

2. There are several things that catch my eye in the real world when it comes to design. One is the design of buildings. When I see in depth buildings with odd, yet aesthetic parts to the structure is most likely my favorite thing that I see on a day to day basis. Another is when I see rooms in an orderly manner and in such a nice fashion.

3.  I design rooms, houses in games, and even plan out how my day will go. Almost everything we do in life is by design. Or we at least try to keep it that way. I make collaborations almost daily in design, as well. For example, I had to collaborate with my roommate to design how our dorm room would appear to others.

4. Critique a classmates initials.

My Logos

For this particular logo, I wanted to show  a professional look while also being able to capture the fun side of my work. In order to do this, I made a real thin dark line while shading off of this line just tad.
This is probably my favorite design of the 3, for it describes my lifestyle more than any of the others that I made. I put my initials on each side of the baseball, but again, kept it simple.

In this logo I was going to do a simple design with no noise around any of it. But, I decided to leave the noise and it made a sort of cheetah print to the design that was extremely original.

Initials

In this piece of work I learned how to put different backgrounds and shade in different lighting features. In addition to this I was able to make my initials completely different. One is very large and in the middle of the screen, another is highlighted, and the last one is in the top right very small and blended in.

Self Portrait

(I could not figure out how to upload my drawing onto here, but I figured I should do the writing on here anyways)

Starting with the background, I have a baseball to represent my life revolving around it most of the time. Then on one side of my face I tried to make a self-portrait that truly looked like my appearance on the outside. Then on the other side I have everything that I like to make up my personality. To start, I have the Afghanistan flag on fire that is in the place of my eye because, from my point of view, this is the most important thing happening right now. Then, I have little representing me as a whole. I have a dog paw print, the fish to represent my Christianity, z's to show my love for sleep, and mountains with trees going up my jawline. These are all things I love. Lastly, outside of my actual head, I threw in a gaming headset and my birth year in order to cap off my self-portrait.
